Kitty Ussher has been appointed the Institute of Directors's first female chief economist One of the UK's oldest professional bodies has appointed a female chief economist for the second time in its history. Kitty Ussher will take the role at the Institute of Directors, joining from cross party think-tank Demos. It is not the first time the Institute of Directors - founded in 1903 - has had a female chief economist with Ruth Lea holding the prestigious role between 1995 to 2003.
